Shop Local During Pink Friday on November 22nd

On November 22nd, the Friday before Black Friday, area local businesses will celebrate “Pink Friday.”  Pink Friday is a nationwide event aimed at supporting small and local businesses while citizens start shopping for the holiday season.

Participating local businesses will offer special discounts and events during this day. Abilene’s Jamie Stroda, Aksent Boutique Owner, has participated in Pink Friday since it was established in 2020. She said it gives small businesses a jump on shopping before Black Friday.

“It’s basically about shopping local before shopping the Big Box stores and it’s always the Friday before Black Friday. Shop Small has become very popular on Small Business Saturday, but that falls after Black Friday, which again kind of puts a cloud over small businesses. And so, this is getting a jump start a week ahead of that.”

Pink Friday began during the pandemic area. Stroda said they were still successful in 2020, and the event has only grown.

“The first year we had been closed during the pandemic and only doing online and so we did a small event, and we had several 100 people come through and each year it just keeps growing since then.”

A map of local businesses and boutiques participating in Pink Friday 2024 can be found on the Shop the Best Boutiques website. You can also check if a local business participates in Pink Friday by contacting them directly.
