‘You Can’t Take It with You’ this Friday-Saturday at Solomon High School

Solomon High School

Solomon High School will present You Can’t Take It with You at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 15-16, in the Solomon Middle School gym. The community is invited to this free performance of the beloved comedy, directed by teachers John Luce and Kelly Glanville. The play, written by George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart, is a heartwarming and hilarious exploration of family, individuality, and happiness.

Set in the late 1930s, the story centers on the eccentric Sycamore family and their encounter with the wealthy Kirby family. The comedy unfolds as young Tony Kirby falls in love with Alice Sycamore, the most “normal” member of the quirky family, leading to a clash of personalities and values when the families meet. The Sycamores live by the philosophy that “you can’t take it with you,” embracing life’s joys and their unconventional pursuits.

Although Solomon High School does not have a dedicated theater department, students have embraced opportunities in forensics and theater. Teachers Luce and Glanville collaborated to bring this play to life, allowing students to find their voices through the arts. Senior Jase Wendlandt praised the dedication and growth of the cast, inviting the community to enjoy a night of laughter and memorable performances.
