Dickinson County Historical Society to Host “An Old Fashioned Christmas”

By: Ryan Duey

On Saturday, December 7th, and Sunday, December 8th all are welcome to join the Dickinson County Historical Society as it hosts its “Old Fashioned Christmas” celebration at the Heritage Center in Abilene. Running from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on both days, the event will feature live music, free rides on the historic 1901 C.W. Parker Carousel, Santa Claus, and more.

Austin Anders, Heritage Center Director, said what was once a small event during Abilene’s Annual Homes for the Holidays Tour, but has now grown into a two-day fundraising event, all thanks to the Hallmark Channel.

Both nights will have various activities for all ages. Anders detailed some of the events and activities attendees can expect.

Children five and under get in free, and attendees ages six and up pay $5, with the money going to help the Historical Society. Enjoy an evening full of hot chocolate, cookies, Santa, and other Christmas activities in support of the Heritage Center. More information and a schedule of events can be found on the Historical Society’s Facebook page.
