As part of National Rural Health Day, Clay County Medical Center announced it earned a 2024 Performance Leadership Award for excellence in Patient Perspective today. Compiled by The Chartis Center for Rural Health, the Performance Leadership Awards recognize top quartile performance (i.e., 75th percentile or above) among rural hospitals in Patient Perspective. Only 28 rural Kansas hospitals received this recognition.

“We are incredibly proud to be recognized with the 2024 Performance Leadership Award for
excellence in Patient Perspective,” said CEO Austin Gillard. “This achievement is a testament to the
unwavering dedication of our entire team to provide the highest quality care to our community. It also
serves as a reminder of the importance of investing in rural health to ensure every patient has access
to the care they deserve.”

The Performance Leadership Awards are based on the results of the Chartis Rural Hospital
Performance INDEX®, a comprehensive and objective framework for assessing how rural hospitals
are performing. INDEX benchmarks are relied upon by rural hospitals, health systems with rural
footprints, hospital associations, and state offices of rural health to measure performance across
multiple areas impacting hospital operations and finance.
