After devoting the past 35 years to serving Marysville citizens and guests, the Wagon Wheel Café will close its doors in December, pending final approval of the sale. The Café, which serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner five days a week is known for its expansive menu, great food, and exceptional service.
Wagon Wheel owner Laurie Parks said it’s time to slow down and enjoy life. Parks plans to take a couple of months off, traveling and visiting family in Texas and Colorado.
“To run a successful business, you have to be willing to put in the hours and you have to be really dedicated, and I feel like I’ve done that. I usually put in around 70 to 80 hours a week and you know, even on the days that we are closed, I work because you have got to get ready for the next week because we are busy, and I haven’t taken a vacation for seven years. So, I’m ready for that.”
Parks plans to stay in Marysville and will most likely work part-time after her break. She said when you own a business you are married to it, and it is time to relax.
Parks wanted to thank her dedicated teammate and the community for all the support throughout the years.
“I would like to give a shout-out to my manager, Lori Snellings. She has been with me for almost 24 years and without her I could have never done this. She is a hard worker, and we’ve made a great team over the years.”
“And I am so grateful for all the people who have patronized the Wagon Wheel over the years because without them the Wagon Wheel wouldn’t be what it is today, and I want to say thank you.”
The Wagon Wheel Café’s last day is planned for Saturday, December 21st. There is still plenty of time to enjoy another meal at the Café, and wish Parks the best of luck in her future endeavors.
