Over the weekend, 24 Kansas children joined their new adoptive families as part of National Adoption Day celebrations in Topeka and Olathe. KVC Kansas, which facilitated the adoptions, highlighted the day’s role in promoting lasting connections for youth in foster care.
During National Adoption Month in November, KVC celebrated the finalization of 31 adoptions. So far in 2024, nearly 150 children have been matched with adoptive families. The organization collaborates with the Kansas Department for Children and Families and Adopt Kansas Kids to support adoption efforts.
KVC emphasized that foster care adoption is open to individuals from diverse backgrounds. Many are surprised to learn the process is essentially free, with costs covered by the state.
Despite these successes, nearly 2,000 children in Kansas foster care still await permanent families. Since 2005, KVC has helped match more than 5,550 youth with adoptive parents, continuing its mission to connect children with loving homes.
