Jon Armstrong, Director of Admissions at Fort Hays State University, recently received the Laura Cross Distinguished Service Award (LCDS) from the Kansas Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (KACRAO). This award, KACRAO’s highest honor, is given to individuals who have made significant contributions to the fields of Admissions, Records, Registrar, or Enrollment Management over the course of their careers.
While this recognition is a major honor, it is not Armstrong’s first. In 2021, he was awarded the Diane Barnes Mentor Award, which recognizes those who have been dedicated and inspiring mentors to professionals in Admissions and Registration. In 2001, Armstrong also received the Beth Tedrow Outstanding New Professional Award, given to individuals with less than six years in the profession who demonstrate active involvement and potential.
A native of Liberal, Armstrong began his career in Admissions at Seward County Community College in 1997. He moved to Hays in 2008 and has served as Director of Admissions at FHSU since 2018.
