Obituary-Ruth Wohler Gregory

Ruth Ann Wohler Gregory, 77, of North Platte, NE passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 21, 2024 at Hemingford Community Care Center in Hemingford, NE.

Ruth was born on August 9, 1947 in Manhattan, KS the daughter of Lawrence Joseph Wedel and Wanda M. (Enke) Wedel.  Ruth was raised in the Wells Creek area south of Wamego and went to school in a couple of local one room schools before moving to Rock Port, MO and finishing her school years at Rock Port.

Ruth went on to college at Maryville, MO and received a degree in teaching.  She taught for a couple of years at Louisville and went to Wamego Elementary for several years.  She later moved to North Platte, NE and taught at the Mid Plains Community College.  While there she served on various school committees and boards.  She also did a little volunteer work with the Lincoln County historical museum.

She married Rolland Wohler and later divorced.  Together they had 2 sons, Dwayne Wohler and Bryan Wohler.  She later married Leroy Gregory of Michigan.

Ruth was very active in all of the churches she attended over the years, as well as working with the children of the church.

Ruth is survived by her son, Dwayne Wohler (Kara) of Lenexa, KS; grandchildren, Quinton (Emily) Wohler, Maximus Wohler (Mary), Abby “Echo” Fletcher (Alex), Chelsea Wohler, and Roslyn Wohler; as well as her brother, Lawrence Wedel and his wife Marietta; daughter in law, Mellissa and husband Tracy Fletcher; 2 step-granddaughters; 3 great-grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews.

Ruth was predeceased by her son, Bryan Wohler in April 2002; her parents, Joe and Wanda both in 1990; and a sister, Elizabeth Pageler in March 2017.   

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hemingford Care Center in Hemingford, NE or to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.

Visitation with the family receiving friends will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 27th at Carpenter Memorial Chapel in North Platte, NE,

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at Green Fancy Creek Cemetery in Green, KS with Pastor Jon Henderson officiating.
