Giving Tuesday, created in 2012, began as a simple idea to encourage people to do good. It has since grown into a global movement inspiring millions to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity. With official movements in 80 countries, it has become a worldwide initiative.
Whether it’s bringing a smile to someone’s face, assisting a neighbor or stranger, supporting a cause or community, or sharing what we have with those in need, everyone can contribute to creating a better world for all. Every act of kindness matters.
Acts of kindness can include supporting local nonprofits, mutual aid networks, and community organizers, helping a neighbor, or doing a simple good deed. Recognize your strengths, choose a cause you’re passionate about, and give back, not just on GivingTuesday, but every day.
In 2022, U.S. donations reached $3.1 billion, a 15% increase from the previous year. On November 29, 2022, 37 million adults participated, contributing time, skills, goods, and money. During #GivingTuesdayNow in 2020, a global day of giving in response to COVID-19, $503 million was donated online in the U.S. alone.
