Palmer’s Annual Palmark Christmas Set for this Weekend

The Palmer Booster Club will once again host its annual Palmark Christmas in downtown Palmer on Sunday, December 8th. This annual event offers fun for the whole family.

Downtown activities include: a visit from Santa Claus, horse-drawn carriage rides, professional pictures with Santa, gift raffles, a hot cocoa bar, and much more. Dan Thalmann, Palmark volunteer, explained how this event came to be.

“A group of families came together and were looking to do something a little different and unique in our community and we decided to create our little Hallmark Christmas Movies type event for our annual Christmas gathering. So, we kind of started looking at what we could do to create something that would be fun and entertaining for everyone in the community and people around the area.”

The Palmer Café will host children’s activities beginning at 4:00 p.m., followed by a Soup Supper at 5:00. The countdown to the grand lighting will start at 5:30 p.m.

During the event, someone will be crowned champion of the Christmas Lighting Contest. Judges will be driving around the city on Saturday, December 7th checking out all the festive home light displays. The top three houses will win prizes, along with a People’s Choice Award.

Thalmann said this will be a fun day for everyone to enjoy the magic of Christmas.
