Clay County General Public Transportation is planning ahead and scheduling a Christmas Lights Tour within the city limits of Clay Center. Director Jay Berends talks about the tour that Clay County General Public Transportation will offer, “It will last approximately about an hour or a little bit over, and we just tour the city. We go downtown, into all the outlying areas in in town. Most likely, we have the bigger bus that holds 10 people, and then we will be able to take up to about, 15 people on the ride.”

The tour is an idea the Clay County General Public Transportation committee created two years ago to help those with limited mobility or access to transportation to see the lights after the transportation company’s normal business hours of 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Berends says with the busy holiday season, reservations will be needed for this event, “This year will only be for one night. It’ll be Friday, December 13th. It’ll start at 7 PM. Basically, it will start from the Apollo Towers. That’s where most of the people ride from, but anybody can call us and schedule a ride. If they’ll call us before 13th, we will schedule a ride, and if they are not at Apollo Towers or Tollin Terrace or Parkview, we will give them a ride over to, Apollo, and we’ll leave from Apollo on the ride.”

In addition to the Clay County Courthouse square, this year, the tour promises to feature some of the Clay Center’s most dazzling displays, including Clay Center’s Public Utilities Zoo Park, The Jensen Home, The Siemers Home, several inflatable displays, nativities, and church displays.

To reserve your seat on the Clay County General Public Transportation Christmas Lights tour, call their dispatch office between 7:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, before the tour’s date, December 13th. The tour is free for all riders.
