Cloud County Community College

Several constellations and planets will be visible at Cloud County Community College’s star party on Saturday, Dec. 21, from 6-8 p.m., at the Earl Bane Observatory on the Concordia campus.

December’s highlights include the stars Polaris, Castor and Pollux, Capella, and Altair. The two largest planets in the solar system, Jupiter and Saturn, will also be visible. This month’s star party also happens to fall on the Winter Solstice, the first day of winter.

In the event of unfavorable or cold weather, a movie about the seasons will be shown in the Observatory Theater.

Those planning to attend the star party are asked park in lot one at the college. The Observatory is located on the southwest corner of campus, near the Thunder Heights dormitory.

Contact Dennis Smith at the college, 785.243.1435, ext. 223, with questions.
