This week, the Senate Republican Conference confirmed U.S. Senator Jerry Moran as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs.
Throughout his tenure in Congress, Sen. Moran has focused on enhancing the lives of Kansas’ nearly 250,000 veterans. He has served on both the House and Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committees, holding roles as both ranking member and chairman.
As committee chairman, Sen. Moran will continue to build on his previous legislative efforts, including the SFC Heath Robinson PACT Act, which ensures toxic-exposed veterans receive their earned health care and benefits; the John Scott Hannon Act, which expands access to mental health and suicide prevention resources; and the VA MISSION Act, which enhances veterans’ access to timely, quality care.
Following the designation, Sen. Moran released the following statement:
“I am grateful for the opportunity to serve as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, and I look forward to working on behalf of the brave men and women who have served in our nation’s Armed Forces, as well as their families, caregivers and survivors.
“The work we do on the committee is and will continue to be driven by the voices of veterans in Kansas and across the country. Through casework and conversations at home and in Washington, D.C., veterans have brought their challenges with VA and their hopes for a brighter future to our attention. It is these conversations that will help drive the work of the committee to meet the needs and address the challenges of all veterans.
“I look forward to working with Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), former Congressman Doug Collins and President Donald Trump to provide veterans with timely, convenient and high-quality health care and benefits. We will also hold the VA accountable and work to empower veterans so they can achieve success after service.”
