The Dickinson County Historical Society will hold its annual “Kansas Statehood Ball” on Saturday, January 25th.  This year’s Statehood Ball will take place at Sterl Hall in Abilene. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. with the event kicking off at 7:00 p.m.

The Dickinson County Historical Society has put this Ball on annually, for many years. The annual Ball is held at the end of January in celebration of Kansas Day, which is January 29th.

Music from the 1860s to the 1880s will be performed by the Kansas Brigade Band, attendees can enjoy the live band while they learn about contra-style dancing, thanks to Derrick Doty. Doty will act as a preceptor, explaining each dance before it starts.

All are welcome and refreshments will be provided.  More information can be found on the Historical Society’s Facebook page.
