U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Director for Kansas Rural Development Christy Davis announced that Rural Development is funding five projects to expand access to domestic biofuels. The $2.2 million investment is made through the Higher Blends Infrastructure Incentive Program (HBIIP), and biofuel construction projects will happen in four Kansas communities.
The announcement is part of a larger national announcement that includes projects in 41 other states and 3 territories.
Locally, Mo’s LLC in Linn was awarded a $159,000 grant to install two new E15 dispensers and one ethanol storage tank at their fueling station in Linn. The project is estimated to increase the amount of ethanol sold in the area by around 152,000 gallons per year.
Davis emphasized that by expanding access to homegrown biofuels, the state is making long-lasting investments that will create new market opportunities and revenue streams for Kansas producers.
