Betty Mae Hatch, age 76, of Manhattan, passed away on January 8, 2025, at the Good Shepherd Hospice House in Manhattan.
Betty was born on June 18, 1948, in Clay Center, Kansas, the daughter of Rex and Mae Margaret (Mellies) Fyfe. She grew up on the family farm near Clay Center. She loved being on the farm and watching her dad take care of the horses they had.
On June 12, 1970, at the First United Methodist Church in Manhattan, she was united in marriage to Marvin Hatch. He survives at their home in Manhattan.
For Betty, her family was everything. She enjoyed being there and taking care of her husband and kids and grandkids. She loved gardening and planting flowers of all kinds and enjoyed gathering as many garden gnomes as possible. Betty was an avid Kansas State fan, watching and cheering for all the Wildcat teams.
Over the years Betty worked as a cook, and for a time at Wal-Mart and then at Kansas State for over 25 years until she retired.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers: Rex Fyfe, Jimmy Fyfe, and Delbert Fyfe, and her infant sister Rita Fyfe; and her grandson Clayton Hatch.
In addition to her husband Marvin, she is survived by her children, Shane Hatch (Sheri) of Clay Center, and Traci Tyson (Daniel) of Manhattan; her brothers: Don Fyfe and David Fyfe and her sisters: Bonnie Spurlock, Joyce Shivers, and Dianna Free; and also her six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The family will greet friends during a visitation from 5:30 until 7:00p.m Wednesday January 22, 2025, at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home in Manhattan.
