Kansas Department of Health and Environment Reaccredited by PHAB Through 2029 for Excellence in Public Health Quality

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) has been reaccredited by the Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB) for the next five years, through 2029. This recognition underscores KDHE’s commitment to meeting the highest national standards for public health quality and performance.

Reaccreditation follows a thorough, peer-reviewed process assessing KDHE’s alignment with PHAB’s national standards. This demonstrates the agency’s ability to adapt, improve, and effectively address the health needs of Kansas communities.

PHAB, a nonprofit supported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), advances public health through accreditation, setting benchmarks for quality and performance. The program helps health departments strengthen infrastructure, enhance community engagement, and address health disparities.

KDHE first earned PHAB accreditation in 2017 and has consistently focused on improving community health, quality management, and public involvement. Moving forward, KDHE will prioritize sustainability efforts, including ongoing assessments, training, and continued community engagement through focus groups and public health initiatives.
