Kansas State University Agronomy Team Wins Fourth Forage Bowl National Title in a Decade

A team of Kansas State University agronomy students secured their fourth Forage Bowl national title in the past decade, triumphing at the competition held in Kissimmee, Florida, on January 13. The Forage Bowl, a game modeled after “Jeopardy,” challenges teams to accumulate points across two rounds before competing in a “Final Jeopardy” round. This national contest, hosted by the American Forage and Grassland Council, saw K-State finish with a score of 5,999, defeating the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, the defending champion, who scored 3,400.

K-State’s victory marks their fourth national title since 2015, following wins in 2015, 2016, and 2023. The team also earned runner-up finishes in 2017 and 2020. Coach Sarah Frye praised the team’s resilience, especially in the second round when they built a lead strong enough to secure the win.

Raj Khosla, head of the Department of Agronomy, highlighted the importance of faculty support in fostering student success, noting K-State’s commitment to equipping students with the skills to make significant impacts in their field.
