Kansas Chamber Unveils 2025 Agenda to Boost Business Growth, Tackle Taxes, Workforce, and Energy Costs

The Kansas Chamber released its 2025 Legislative and Policy Agenda on Thursday, outlining key priorities to support Kansas businesses. The plan addresses challenges and opportunities in areas like taxes, workforce, and economic growth.

Chamber President Alan Cobb highlighted five main goals for the upcoming legislative session:

  • Lower Taxes: Reduce personal and corporate income taxes using strategies proven successful in other states like West Virginia and Indiana.
  • Simplify Corporate Taxes: Shift to a single-factor apportionment system for corporate income taxes to streamline the process and attract businesses.
  • Legal Reform: Improve Kansas’ legal system to lower insurance costs and make the state more competitive for businesses.
  • Healthcare Improvements: Support licensing reciprocity for healthcare professionals to ease workforce shortages and improve access to care.
  • Lower Energy Costs: Address high electricity rates, particularly for manufacturers, to protect businesses and foster growth.

The agenda is based on feedback from member task groups, statewide meetings, and research, including the Annual Business Leaders Poll and Kansas Competitiveness Analysis report.
