Kansas State University Releases 2025 Guide on Chemical Weed Control for Field Crops and Noncropland

Kansas State University has released the 2025 Chemical Weed Control for Field Crops, Pastures, Rangeland, and Noncropland guide, providing updated information on herbicides.

While this year’s guide does not introduce many new active ingredients, it includes details on products like IronGate, now approved for wheat. This herbicide contains flucarbazone and pyroxsulam and is effective against downy brome, mustards, and Italian ryegrass.

Another addition is Surtain, a BASF pre-mix of pyroxasulfone and encapsulated saflufenacil. Unlike traditional Sharpen-based products, Surtain reduces burndown activity.

For glufosinate-tolerant soybeans, Zalo (glufosinate + quazolifop) improves grass and broadleaf weed control. Meanwhile, Liberty Ultra is the first herbicide to meet Endangered Species Act requirements. It is a more concentrated version of Liberty 280 SL, requiring lower application rates.

Other products in the guide include Inversa, Corteva’s encapsulated acetochlor herbicide, and Resicore REV, which offers improved handling over Resicore XL.
