Obituary- Mary Margaret Gillette

Mary Margaret Gillette, age 81 of Marysville, passed away Thursday, January 30, 2025, at the Blue Valley Health and Rehabilitation Center in Blue Rapids.

She was born on November 18, 1943, in Marysville, the daughter of Wilson and Grace (Tyner) Brown.  She graduated from Marysville High School.

On December 24, 1961, she married Frank Naaf and they had two daughters.  They later divorced.

Mary owned a clothing store called The Body Shop Boutique and was very active in the Marysville Chamber.  She managed Casey’s stores, Burger King restaurants and the Comfort Inn Hotel in the areas between Kansas City, Kansas and Platte City, Missouri. After retiring, she moved back to Marysville and worked as a cook for the hospital and the county jail.

Birthdays and holidays were very important to Mary.  She always made sure to get the gifts that you wanted and enjoyed making your favorite foods and baking birthday cakes.  She loved spending time with her kids and grandkids and attending their events and traveling.  She enjoyed making the yearly trip to the pumpkin patch with her family.

She is survived by two daughters, Stacey Latta (Robert) of Marysville and Tami Keller (Daren) of Wakefield; five grandchildren, Nicole Nelson (Jordy) of Marysville, Abby Tormondson (Dustin) of Home, Jori Latta of Marysville, Ryan Latta (Bailee) of Waterville and Zechariah Williams of Lawrence, and ten great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and one sister.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at the Marysville Berean Church with Pastor Joel Barber officiating.  Inurnment will be in the Marysville City Cemetery.
