Obituary- Carol Jean Girard

Carol Jean Girard, age 72, left her earthly body on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at her home in Concordia, KS.  

She was born on September 19, 1952, in Beloit, KS to John N. & Margaret M. (Gradig) Reinert. She grew up and worked hard on a country farm South of Tipton, KS.  She graduated from Tipton High School in 1970. She completed Vocational/Technical Education for business in 1971. She worked for Elkan wiring plant in Ellsworth, KS.

On January 25, 1975, Carol Jean married Steven Girard. In a brief marriage they created three children Steven Jr., Michelle and Chad. As a family they traveled for the military, which allowed her to drive the beautiful roads from Sanford, ME, to Pembroke, MA, to Fort Riley and Glen Elder, KS.

In 1978, Concordia became her home, where she worked in housekeeping/laundry for the hospital and privately. In 1981 she had another daughter April. Carol enjoyed mowing lawns, cleaning homes, and working for Lester’s Sweet shop as a cook. She was always fond of the Concordia camaraderie.

Carol was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Concordia, KS. She lived with the love and friendship of Jesus. She loved her family and being a mother. She enjoyed talking on the phone checking in on those she loved. She enjoyed watching TV westerns and TBN, reading all kinds of books, #1 most read, the Holy Bible.

Carol is survived by her children, Steven Jr., Michelle and Chad; April and Joe Debauche and her adored grandchild Ethan of Wichita, KS. Brothers, Larry Reinert (Ladonna), Newton, KS, Leland Reinert (Kathy) , Florence, CO, & Allan (Joyce) Reinert, Halstead, KS; Sister, Nancy Lumpkin, “Somewhere”, KS?

She was preceded in death by her parents and infant brother, Barry Reinert.

A visitation will be held from 1:00 pm – 8:00 pm, Tuesday, February 11, 2025, with a parish Rosary prayed that evening at 6:00 pm at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia. Family will receive friends after the Rosary Service.

A memorial Mass service will be held 10:30 a.m., February 12, 2025, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Concordia, with Fr. Joseph Kieffer officiating.

A funeral luncheon with Diet Pepsi will be provided. All are welcome to attend.

It was Carol’s wishes to be cremated and a private interment of ashes is planned for a later date at Saint Boniface Cemetery, Tipton, Mitchell County, Kansas.
