Obituary- Virginia “Jean” Bachand

Virginia “Jean” Bachand, age 75, of Concordia, Kansas, left this earthly life on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at the University of Kansas Medical Center, Kansas City, Kansas with her family by her side.

She was born on October 18, 1949, in Hays, Kansas to Marvin Rudolph & Josephine Martina (Pfeifer) Wiesner. 

Jean graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Salina, Kansas in 1967. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Fort Hays State University, Hays, Kansas.

She married Lonnie Bachand on August 16, 1969, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Concordia, Kansas. 

Jean dedicated 38 years of service to St. Joseph Hospital and Cloud County Health Center retiring in 2008.  After retirement she enjoyed traveling and spending time with her treasured grandchildren.

She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and Concordia Rotary Club.  She volunteered countless hours for St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary, Sailing for Success and numerous fund-raising projects throughout the community.

Jean is survived by her husband, Lonnie, Concordia; daughters, Nicci Noyce (Daivd), Overland Park, KS; Crissi Roberts (Tony), Rogers, AR; her four beloved grandchildren, Sawyer and Signe Noyce, Jensen and Boden Roberts; siblings, Robert Wiesner (Dawn), Dallas, TX; Jerry Wiesner (Joan), Concordia, KS; Brian Wiesner (Linda), Concordia, KS; and Annie & Dennis Bergmann, Concordia, KS; sister-in-law, Kimberly Wiesner, Concordia, KS; brothers-in-law, Gary Bachand (Debbie) & James Bachand (Alice), both of Clyde, KS; and mother-in-law, Eleanor Bachand, Clyde, KS; nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and a host of family and friends that made her life full.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin & Josephine Wiesner; sisters, Ellen Wiesner, and Ruth Hillman; brother, Gregory Wiesner; and father-in-law, Raymond Bachand.

Visitation will be Friday, February 28, 2025, from 1-8pm with a Rosary being prayed at 6:00 pm. The family will be greeting friends after the rosary at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia.  

It was Jean’s wishes to be cremated, and a Celebration of Life Service and a Memorial Mass will be held 10:00 am, Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Concordia with Fr. Joseph Kieffer officiating.  Burial will follow at St. Concordia Cemetery, Concordia, KS.
