The Kansas Society Daughters of the American Revolution (KSDAR), Northwest District, will place an America 250! Patriot Marker at the Washington County Courthouse Square on February 24th. A brief ceremony and reception will mark its installation, with a formal dedication planned for April.
This marker commemorates the 250th anniversary of the United States and honors the Patriots who fought for American independence between 1775 and 1783. KSDAR Northwest District Director Nancy Buckingham Williams emphasized that these markers celebrate the courage and sacrifice of the nation’s founders while fostering community pride.
The ceremony will begin at 10:00 a.m. inside the Washington County Courthouse, with county commissioners and KSDAR representatives attending. Williams expressed excitement about bringing the marker to Washington County, highlighting its role in honoring the nation’s history.
This installation joins other DAR America 250! Patriot Markers placed in El Dorado, Kingman, Leavenworth, and Shawnee, further recognizing the nation’s enduring legacy of freedom.
