Obituary-Terry Dean Ruthstrom

Terry Dean Ruthstrom, age 66 of Leonardville, passed away Thursday, February 27, 2025, at the University of Kansas Health System in Kansas City, Kansas.

He was born on August 28, 1958, in Clay Center, the son of Gene Madison and Mary Lou (Peterson) Ruthstrom.  He graduated from Riley County High School in 1976.

On June 18, 1983, he married Chandra Kay Toburen at the Leonardville United Methodist Church.  She survives of the home.

He worked at Fritz Oil early in his working years until he started working side by side with his dad as a farmer and stockman.  He was passionate about his livestock and loved all animals.  He was known to have fast cars, motorcycles, dune buggies, and anything else he could race.

In addition to his wife, Chandra Ruthstrom of Leonardville; he is survived by one brother, Larry Ruthstrom of Leonardville; one brother-in-law, Steven Toburen and Rose of St. George; two nephews, Dillon Ruthstrom and Amanda and their daughters, Morgan and Avery of Leonardville, and Austin Toburen and Kelsey of Manhattan; one niece, Stephanie Toburen and Christian and their son, Henry of Lawrence; one aunt, Doris Ruthstrom of Leonardville, many cousins and special friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his daughter, Ashleigh Ruthstrom.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 7, 2025, at the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home with Pastor Kevin Larson officiating.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.  Inurnment will be in the Leonardville City Cemetery.
