Riley County
Beginning Monday, March 10, two additional Riley County departments will adjust their customer service hours, joining several others that made the switch last year.
Customer service hours for Public Works and Household Hazardous Waste/Noxious Weed will now be:
- Monday – Thursday: 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Friday: 7:30 a.m. to noon
All full-time employees will continue to work a 40-hour schedule.
The shift, first implemented as a trial for select departments in 2024, has been well-received by both staff and customers. The extended morning and evening availability Monday through Thursday provides greater flexibility for residents who need assistance outside traditional business hours, while also supporting employee retention and satisfaction.
“This schedule has been a win-win for staff and the public,” said Elizabeth Ward, Human Resources Director. “We’re excited to expand the model to more departments so we can continue offering excellent customer service while promoting a great work environment.”
