Berna Lou (Yarnell) Gable, 93, passed away on March 7, 2025 at Pleasant Hills Assisted Living in Hutchinson, KS.
Berna was born on August 3rd, 1931, in Concordia, KS. to Perry and Reva (Liby) Chartier.
She attended Concordia High School and worked for the USD #333 school system as a cook for twenty years before retiring in 1993.
On 7/15/48 she married Francis E. (Gene) Yarnell in Osborne, KS. To this union six children were born: Bruce, Douglas, Eric (Rick), Jeannette, Jayne, and Patrick.
Berna is survived by her two daughters, Jeannette (Joel) Davenport of Hutchinson, KS. and Jayne (Dale) Hermes of Wichita, KS., and her son, Patrick Yarnell, of Colorado Springs, CO. She is also survived by two daughters-in-law, Vicki (Gott) Yarnell and Opal (Schlueter) Yarnell, as well as six grandchildren: Angie (Don) Zysk, Robyn (Stephen) Combs, Ashlea Davenport, Tyler (Mallory) Davenport, Hollie Hermes (James Snyder), and Rachel Hermes; and fifteen great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Francis (Gene) Yarnell, her second husband, Arthur Gable, her parents, Perry and Reva Chartier, three sons, Bruce Yarnell, Doug Yarnell, and Rick Yarnell, one granddaughter, Brandy Yarnell, and one grandson, Jonathan Yarnell.
Berna will be remembered for her gracious hospitality, making all visitors feel welcome and cherished, her unwavering work ethic, her passion for food and music, and her profound love for family and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 14th,10:30 a.m. at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home (325 W. 6th Street, Concordia, KS. 66901), with Pastor Dwight Whitead officiating. Visitation will be from 9-10 a.m., Friday, prior to the funeral service. Burial will follow the services at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Clyde, Kansas.
