Clay Center Community Improvement Foundation Welcomes First Full-Time Director

Clay Center, KS – The Clay Center Community Improvement Foundation (CCCIF) announces the hiring of Krista Thomas as its first full-time director.

This new position is made possible through the Rural Community Foundation Capacity Building Program and marks a significant milestone in CCCIF’s ability to better serve the community and its nonprofit organizations.

The director position will be employed by the Greater Manhattan Community Foundation (GMCF) while focusing exclusively on the growth and success of CCCIF.

Previously led by a volunteer board, CCCIF will now have dedicated leadership to enhance its impact, strengthen community partnerships, and support local initiatives. Along with working with the local board, Krista will also collaborate with GMCF and other rural communities that have foundation directors through this grant.

Krista (McMahan) Thomas, a Clay Center native, brings a deep passion for community development and a strong background in education. Since graduating from Kansas State University, she has dedicated her career to teaching and serving on various boards and committees at the school.

“CCCIF has come a long way since it was created by visionary community members in 1990. We are proud of the progress this organization has made with volunteer board members and are excited to see it grow even faster under the focus of a full time director.”  said Morree Floersch, CCCIF board chair.

This new role represents a lasting commitment to strengthening Clay Center’s future, ensuring that CCCIF can provide greater support to local organizations and initiatives.

Thomas will start in the CCCIF’s director role this June.
