K-State Salina Student Teaches Popular 3D Printing Course, Gaining Experience and Sharing Knowledge with the Community

Sawyer Stoskopf, a senior in mechanical engineering technology at Kansas State University Salina, is teaching a 3D printing course for the community. Originally designed to share his knowledge, the course has become a chance for him to gain teaching experience.

The course, which started in January, teaches people how to assemble and troubleshoot 3D printers, along with understanding basic 3D printing applications. The demand for the class was so high that it sold out quickly, leading K-State Salina to open additional courses in February and March.

Stoskopf instructs a learner about 3D printing technology.

Participants benefit from the class, but so does Stoskopf. This is his first formal teaching role, and he is also learning how to design and present a course. Stoskopf has been passionate about 3D printing since middle school and has self-taught much of his knowledge.

The course is a hybrid, with online learning followed by in-person hands-on sessions with Stoskopf. By the end, students will be able to independently use 3D printers and create their own projects. Registration for the March course is open until March 20. . Learn more and register at the 3D printing website.
