American Airlines to Begin Using Larger Aircraft for Daily Chicago Flights from Manhattan Regional Airport

Manhattan Regional Airport (MHK) announed that starting in April, American Airlines will begin using the larger 65-seat ERJ-170 aircraft for daily flights to and from Chicago.

This marks the first time American Airlines will operate a dual-class service aircraft for the Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) routes since its inception at MHK. The ERJ-170 offers more amenities, including larger overhead compartments, increased cargo capacity, first-class seating, and two bathrooms.

With this change, all commercial flights offered by American Airlines at MHK will now use aircraft with 65 seats or more. As a result, American Airlines has increased seat availability for the 2025 schedule by 16% compared to 2024.

“We are thrilled that American Airlines is offering a larger, dual-class aircraft for our Chicago routes,” said Airport Director Brandon Keazer. “This aircraft will elevate the flying experience and provide a greater comfort level for our customers. Remember, fly local!”
