Concordia Post Office Joins National ‘Stamp Out Hunger’ Drive May 10th to Support Local Food Bank

The Concordia Post Office will participate in the National Letter Carrier’s Drive, also known as Stamp Out Hunger, on Saturday, May 10.

Launched in 1993, this is the largest single-day food drive in the U.S. and involves letter carriers across more than 10,000 communities collecting non-perishable food donations left by mailboxes. These items are then distributed to local food banks, shelters, and pantries.

In Concordia, donations benefit the Cloud County Resource Center and Food Bank. Executive Director Tonya Merrill noted that this drive is the food bank’s largest of the year and particularly critical due to rising food costs.

The drive typically brings in 3,000 to 4,000 food items, helping the center prepare for its busiest season. High-demand items include peanut butter, jelly, canned meats, pasta, cereal, and canned fruits and vegetables.

Volunteers are encouraged to assist by collecting items from porches and delivering them to the Resource Center at 107 West 7th. Volunteer check-in starts Saturday morning, and the effort should wrap up by noon.

Donations can also be dropped off during the center’s regular hours throughout the week. All contributions help support families in need across the local community.
