Obituary-Terry Ekstrum

Terry Lee Ekstrum, age 66 of Frankfort, passed away Saturday, July 19, 2025, at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City.

He was born on January 14, 1959, in Marysville, the son of Galvin Edwin and Marilyn Ann (Zentz) Ekstrum.

He married Denise Renee’ Ohlde on November 28, 1981, at the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Palmer.

Terry was a farmer and worked for Sharp Manufacturing Blue Rapids.  He raised Red Angus Cattle and a great welder, building all but one of the buildings on his farm.  He enjoyed working and tinkering on his farm and watching John Wayne western movies.  Most of all, Terry loved watching and attending his grandchildren’s sports and activities.

He is survived by his wife, Denise Ekstrum of Frankfort; two sons, Brian Ekstrum and wife Lyndsey of Riley, and Corey Ekstrum and wife Angie of Waterville; one daughter, Kylie Ekstrum of Frankfort; one brother, Ed Ekstrum of Marysville; one sister, Susan Ekstrum Bernasek and husband George of  Axtell; eight grandchildren, Chris Ratzloff, Colby Ratzloff, Royce Ekstrum, Shaylee Ekstrum, Sydney Ekstrum, Wyatt Ekstrum, Sydnee Ekstrum and Ryenne Ekstrum, and two great grandchildren, Maggie Ratzloff and Mavis Ratzloff.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Viewing will be from noon to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, July 24, 2025, with the family receiving friends between 6:00 and 7:00 p.m. at the Christie-Anderes Funeral Home in Waterville.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 25, 2025, at the Antioch Cemetery with Pastor Jay Williamson officiating.  Pallbearers are Matt Ohlde, Donovan Ohlde, Diron Ohlde, Brian Bruna, Gary Stone and Lynn Bargmann.  Honorary Pallbearers are Bob Taylor, Marv Horalek, Aaron Ohlde and Quinton Dodds.

A memorial may be made to the Terry Ekstrum Memorial Fund and left in care of the Christie-Anderes Funeral Home, PO Box 61, Waterville, Kansas 66548
