Pladson On Championship Draft League Team

Cole Pladson follows up being named the Kansas Gatorade Player of the Year for the second straight year by playing into the month of July for the State College Spikes in Pennsylvania in the MLB Draft League.

Pladson faced off against top talent from across the nation. He was named top league performer twice and his team would win the 1st Half League Championship. Cole would finish strong going 4-8 in the final week at the
plate to hit .213 for the season.

He finished the 18 games with 10 Hits, 3 Doubles, 1 Home Run, 11 RBI, 3 Stolen Bases and 16 Walks. I had the
chance to visit with Cole on the KCLY Locker Room Show (which can be seen on the KCLY Youtube Channel) he told me the time in the MLB Draft League gave him a taste of what Minor League ball would be like. They
played 6 games a week with only Mondays off.

He also said it taught him important lessons for his future, “ A big thing I learned is you can’t base how feel on how you played or how you performed the night before. No matter if you went 4-4 or 0-4, you still have to show up the next day and go through the same exact routine and do whatever you have to do to improve.” Pladson added that “It makes you focus on the process instead of the end result.”

After a few days at home “The Dawg” will head to Stillwater to begin his career as an Oklahoma State Cowboy.
