Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan has received a 4-star rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) 2025 Overall Hospital Quality Star Ratings. These ratings, which assess quality of care, patient safety and patient experience, are essential for patients and families making informed healthcare decisions.
The CMS Overall Hospital Quality Star Ratings are derived from 46 publicly reported quality measures across five quality domains: Mortality, Safety of Care, Readmission, Patient Experience, and Timely and Effective Care. These quality measures are aggregated, and CMS assigns each hospital a single, overall star rating, with five stars indicating the highest level of hospital performance. CMS separately assigns a patient survey rating, which measures patients’ experiences of their hospital
care.
Via Christi in Manhattan earned 4 stars in both the 2025 overall and patient survey ratings. The national average for 2,891 U.S. hospitals is 3.08 stars.
“These ratings from CMS are an acknowledgment of our dedicated caregivers and their steadfast commitment to live out our mission of delivering safe, high-quality quality and compassionate care for all,” said Robert Copple, President of Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan. “We are proud of our team and the exceptional care they provide for our patients, every single day.”
In 2024, Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan was one of only 15 Kansas hospitals to receive a 5-star rating for cleanliness from CMS. In the last five years, the hospital has earned eight “A” Hospital Safety Grades from the Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit focused on patient safety. Additionally, the hospital was listed as one of America’s Best-in-State Hospitals 2025 by Newsweek and Statista and has been chosen by U.S. News & World Report as a High Performing hospital for Maternity Care for four consecutive years.
