The pageantry of military music will fill the Marysville High School Auditorium when the 1st Infantry Division Band takes the stage on Thursday, August 28, at 7 p.m. The concert, presented by the Marshall County Arts Cooperative, is free and open to the public.
Based at Fort Riley, the 38-member ensemble represents the U.S. Army’s famed “Big Red One,” serving as the division’s musical ambassador at military ceremonies and in communities throughout the region. Known for its versatility, the band’s program will feature light overtures, patriotic marches, Broadway favorites and the timeless sounds of big band music from the 1940s and 1950s.
The band regularly performs at events throughout the Midwest, including K-State/Fort Riley Day at Wagner Field, Veterans Salute programs in Junction City, the Veterans Day Parade in Manhattan and holiday concerts across the region. Its mission is both musical and civic—strengthening the connection between the Army and the public through performance and outreach.
“The 1st Infantry Division Band brings top-tier musicianship,” said Colette Ottens, a board member for the Marshall County Arts Cooperative. “This is an opportunity for our community to experience world-class performance while recognizing the men and women who serve.”
Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and seating is first-come, first-served. For additional information, contact the Marshall County Arts Cooperative at 785-859-4260 or visit their website, marshallcountyarts.org.
