The Royals’ playoff push has been fueled by a home run barrage, with Vinnie Pasquantino leading the charge. Kansas City closed an 8-2 homestand Thursday with a 6-4 win over Texas, highlighted by Pasquantino’s fourth straight game with a homer — one shy of the club record.
The Royals have homered in 11 straight games since Aug. 10, blasting 19 during the homestand, including six from Pasquantino. Fifteen of his 26 long balls this season have given Kansas City a lead.
Despite a costly error in Wednesday’s 6-3 loss, Pasquantino’s bat has kept the Royals in the thick of the Wild Card race, now just outside the final spot.
Manager Matt Quatraro praised both the power surge and a bullpen that locked down Thursday’s win. Kansas City heads to Detroit looking to extend its homer streak and climb the playoff ladder.
