The Kansas Infrastructure Hub (Hub) has named Shawn Ellen Wesner as its new Executive Director, effective August 11. With more than 20 years of federal government experience, Wesner will lead efforts to provide technical assistance and build partnerships that help communities secure funding for infrastructure projects across Kansas.
Wesner said she is honored to lead the Hub and plans to use her experience in relationship-building to strengthen the state’s transportation, utilities, and communication networks for all residents.
Established in 2022, the Hub connects state agencies with Kansas communities, offering free technical support, including grant development and management assistance. It also facilitates partnerships to enhance statewide infrastructure, promotes Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) grant opportunities, and serves as the processing center for the Build Kansas Fund.
Wesner’s career spans service in the Peace Corps, roles at four U.S. embassies, and extensive work with the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) programs internationally. She holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Kansas, a Graduate Certificate in Public Management from American University, and a master’s degree from The George Washington University.
