Amber and Max Burger founded TK Fights Fentanyl (TKFF), a faith-based nonprofit that provides education, resources, and life-saving tools to communities, after losing their daughter, Kaylee, to fentanyl on August 25, 2023. What began as a Facebook support page has grown into a statewide effort that includes distributing naloxone, drug test strips, and creating “Save a Life” stations.
The stations are stocked with overdose prevention tools, crisis information, and mental health resources. Nine stations are currently active across Kansas, with more in progress, including one recently installed at Kansas State University.
Amber explained the goal is to remove barriers, break stigma, and make overdose prevention tools easily accessible. The nonprofit stresses that fentanyl affects people of all ages and situations, not just those struggling with addiction. By expanding awareness and resources, the Burgers aim to honor Kaylee’s memory by saving lives and supporting families impacted by fentanyl.
The organization hosts public awareness events, including a memorial wall unveiling at the Kansas Capitol this Friday, August 29, a TKF Bingo fundraiser on September 13th, and the third annual Fentanyl Awareness Rally on September 20.
