Viva Raw LLC of Charlotte, NC is voluntarily recalling two lots of dog and cat foods (Lot 21495 and Lot 21975) due to contamination with Salmonella and Listeria monocytogenes. The affected products, sold as frozen 1-pound bricks, were distributed nationwide to consumers and select retailers in NY, IL, SC, FL, KS, CA, and AZ between July 2 and August 21, 2025.
These bacteria can cause illness in pets and pose a risk to humans handling the products. Symptoms in people may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramps; severe cases can cause more serious complications. Pets may show lethargy, diarrhea, vomiting, fever, or abdominal pain and can potentially spread the bacteria.
No illnesses have been reported to date. Consumers with the affected products should contact Viva Raw for a refund, dispose of remaining food safely, avoid feeding it to pets, and thoroughly clean all utensils, bowls, and surfaces that came into contact with the recalled products.
More information, including a full list of products, can be found on FDA’s website.
