Chiefs Bring Back DT Derrick Nnadi in Trade with Jets

By Jayson Henderson

The Kansas City Chiefs have brought back defensive tackle Derrick Nnadi in a trade with the New York Jets, the team announced Monday.

Nnadi signed with the Jets as a free agent earlier this offseason after spending his first seven NFL seasons in Kansas City. The 29-year-old played in 115 games with 87 starts for the Chiefs, serving primarily as a run-stopping presence in the middle of the defensive line.

During his first stint with Kansas City, Nnadi was part of multiple playoff runs, including Super Bowl appearances. His return gives the Chiefs a familiar and experienced option up front as the regular season approaches.

Nnadi originally joined the Chiefs as a third-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft out of Florida State. He is expected to quickly resume a key role in the defensive rotation.
