The Kansas Lottery announced that Executive Director Stephen Durrell has been named to the 2025 class of the Public Gaming Research Institute (PGRI) Lottery Industry Hall of Fame, honoring his long-standing leadership and contributions to the gaming industry in Kansas and nationwide.
Durrell has served the State of Kansas for more than two decades, emphasizing innovation, responsible growth, and public trust. He began his career as an Assistant Attorney General assigned to the Kansas Racing and Gaming Commission, later serving as General Counsel for the Kansas Lottery. In 2018, he was appointed Executive Director, leading efforts to modernize and expand the agency.
Nationally, Durrell has chaired committees within the Multi-State Lottery Association, overseeing security, integrity, and legal matters for member lotteries. He has also worked to transform the Kansas Lottery into an entertainment-focused agency through partnerships with sports franchises, movie studios, and retailers.
The Lottery Industry Hall of Fame honors individuals who have made lasting impacts on the growth, sustainability, and integrity of the lottery industry.
