Kansas Trails Inc. announced the inaugural Ride for Resilience (R4R), a 30-day, 700-mile cycling journey across Kansas trails to raise awareness and funds for GO2 for Lung Cancer and Kansas Trails Inc. The ride will take place from September 15 to October 15, 2025, covering 60 trails and 50 towns.
Mike Scanlon, Executive Director of Kansas Trails Inc., will lead the ride, sharing stories of survival, community, and resilience while meeting cancer survivors, fighters, and trail enthusiasts along the way. Scanlon, diagnosed in March 2024 with Stage IV non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), credits targeted therapy for his current status of No Evidence of Disease (NED) and hopes his journey inspires others while highlighting the importance of biomarker testing and cancer research.
“Trails are more than paths through the prairie; they strengthen small towns and connect communities,” Scanlon said.
The ride aims to raise $75,000, split equally between GO2 for Lung Cancer and Kansas Trails Inc. Two anonymous donors have pledged to match contributions up to $20,000, doubling their impact. Daily updates and highlights will be shared on social media, with opportunities for communities along the route to participate.
