Sheridan County will welcome visitors for the Kansas Sampler Foundation’s third Big Kansas Road Trip Pop Up of 2025 on Saturday, October 4. The public is invited to explore the region and experience rural communities firsthand.
The Pop Up events are designed to give small towns a chance to showcase their history, culture, and local attractions. Activities throughout the day in Sheridan County will include tours, music, and community gatherings.
The event begins at 10 a.m. in front of the Hoxie courthouse, where Kansas Sampler Foundation staff will greet visitors and kick off the day with “The Stump” game. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs. The Pop Up’s theme, “Sing-along in Sheridan County,” will feature three sing-alongs led by local musicians: at 10 a.m. at The Stump, 1 p.m. at BottleKAP Studio for show tunes, and 5 p.m. at Cottonwood Ranch for pop, country, and Kansas songs. The Hoxie Scouts will serve chili and cornbread at the ranch.
Other activities include tours of the Hoxie jail and museum, visits to churches in Seguin and Angelus, and behind-the-scenes tours of Foote Cattle Feeders. In Selden, attendees can shop local stores and enjoy cookies along the walking trail.
Simone Elder, KSF PowerUp & Engagement Manager, said the event is “like a giant open house” for the communities, giving both visitors and locals a fresh perspective on rural life.
Papa Baldy’s, a McPherson County popcorn company, sponsors the Pop Up. Earlier events in 2025 were held in Morton County and Halstead. While Pop Ups primarily attract Kansas Explorers Club members, the events are open to the general public.
