Marysville High School students traveled to Wichita on September 10th to welcome home 94 veterans from the 104th Kansas Honor Flight.

The Student Council and FCCLA members, along with sponsor Jeff Koch, participated in the flag line and presented a $1,500 donation, raised through a bake sale and a match from the Marysville Community Foundation. Their contribution has funded four veterans’ trips to Washington, D.C. since 2022.

Among those returning was Blue Rapids Navy veteran James Wessel. MHS senior McKartnee Smith honored POW/MIAs by leading the procession with an empty wheelchair.

Kansas Honor Flight volunteers praised Marysville students for their patriotism, fundraising, and annual Veterans Day program.

On the way, students also shared ideas with Sedgwick High School, inspiring them to begin their own veteran recognition efforts. Students called the day unforgettable and deeply moving.
