Marysville Mayor Todd Frye proclaimed September 22, 2025, as South African Rotary Friendship Day during a visit by five Rotarians from South Africa. The group toured Marshall County, stayed with local Rotary families, and celebrated ties formed through Rotary Friendship Exchanges. Guests praised Marysville’s community spirit and explored local history.
South African Rotarians shared details of humanitarian projects, including efforts to open an early education center in Swellendam that will serve 150 children, supported by a Rotary Foundation Global Grant and local donations. The initiative features sustainable elements such as solar power and rainwater collection and seeks teacher sponsorships through an “Adopt-a-Teacher” campaign.
The exchange highlighted this year’s Rotary International theme, “Unite for Good,” while strengthening global friendships through shared culture, service projects, and community hospitality.
