This October, the Clay Center Community High School Trapshooting Team is bringing back its “Flock a Friend” Fundraiser.
From October 1st through the 30th, community members have a chance to fill a family member’s, friend’s, or even a local business’s yard with up to 25 colorful flamingos, all for a good cause.
In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, the team will be flocking yards with pink flamingos to raise funds for senior team member Gavyn Ryals and his family. Proceeds will also go to support the team with needed supplies.
Esther Varner, Trap Team Assistant Coach, detailed how the fundraiser works.
“For $20, we will come and put a flock of flamingos in the yard of the friend that you would like to flock.”
“They can stay there for three days. If that friend doesn’t want them in their place, they can donate $10 to have them removed within 24 hours.”
“Anybody can forward their flock to another friend for $20, and if you would like your lawn to never be touched again, you can buy flock insurance for $30.”
Varner spoke of what to do if you are lucky enough to get “Flocked.”
“If you were lucky to be flocked by a friend, you can leave the money under your doormat, tape it to the back of a sign, or anything you would like to do, and just contact me.”
“My number is on the yard sign, or the trap team e-mail is on the yard sign.”
“If you are lucky enough to have a flyer, our information is on there as well.”
The CCCHS Trapshooting Team invites everyone in the community to join in on the fun while supporting two great causes.
