Left-hander Noah Cameron closed his rookie season Friday night in the Royals’ 4-3 walk-off loss to the A’s at Sutter Health Park. Cameron allowed three runs in 4 2/3 innings, issuing four walks, as Kansas City fell to 80-80 with two games remaining.
Cameron’s outing completed an impressive debut year. The 26-year-old from St. Joseph posted a 2.99 ERA across 24 starts and 138 1/3 innings, becoming the third Royals rookie with at least 20 starts to record a sub-3.00 ERA, joining Paul Splittorff (1971) and Kevin Appier (1990). He also led rookie pitchers with a 3.9 bWAR and could receive American League Rookie of the Year consideration.
Cameron began 2025 in Triple-A but emerged as a key starter after injuries thinned Kansas City’s rotation. He threw 166 1/3 innings between the minors and majors, surpassing his previous workload and establishing himself as part of the Royals’ future rotation plans.
