Quarterback Avery Johnson and running back Dylan Edwards led Kansas State to a 34-20 win over UCF on Saturday, snapping a two-game losing streak. Johnson completed 18 of 25 passes for 168 yards and two touchdowns and added 75 rushing yards on 12 carries. Edwards rushed for 166 yards, including a 75-yard touchdown run late in the third quarter that extended the Wildcats’ lead to 31-10.
Kansas State improved to 2-3 overall and 1-1 in the Big 12. The Wildcats posted season highs of 434 total yards and 266 rushing yards, going 4-for-4 in the red zone. The defense forced two interceptions, recorded eight tackles for loss and three sacks, and limited UCF to 3-for-13 on third downs.
UCF, 3-1 and 0-1 in the Big 12, averaged nearly 40 points per game entering the contest but was held to 20 in its first loss of the season.
