Grow Clay County invites the public to a hauntingly fun event along the Zoo Walking Trails when it hosts “Screams for a Cause,” a 1-mile and 5K family-run on Saturday, October 25th. All proceeds from this event will benefit the new Multi-Generational Life Center.
Beginning at 6:00 p.m., racers will run along the walking trails and enjoy stops along the way. Kathryn Doster-Tipsword, Event Coordinator, said people in the community had been asking about adding more running events.
“We had somebody reach out to us and say that before the year ended, they wanted to host another run, since we usually only do the one for Piotique.”
“We have had many people in the community ask if we would add more runs to our events. So, this is kind of a perfect opportunity.”
Event sponsors will have tables set up along the trail featuring Halloween-themed treats and more. The Tiger Speech and Drama group will also add a little spookiness to the run.
“Most of the tables are going to be our sponsors, and they will give out Halloween goodies along with promotional items.”
“Some of them will have candy, some of them will have glow sticks, and then whatever anybody else decides to bring.”
Participants are encouraged to dress in Halloween costumes; prizes will be given for the best costumes.
Registration is available on Grow Clay County’s website. Participants can also register by contacting Grow Clay County directly.
Kick off Halloween with a family-fun event for a good cause.
Also, don’t forget to head downtown for Halloween Howl the following Friday from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.
