The Sedgwick County Fire Department announced on its Facebook that the FETCH Foundation has donated nine Essential FIDO Bags to the department, providing first responders with tools to help save pets affected by fires.

These specialized emergency kits allow firefighters to treat animals suffering from smoke inhalation or other fire-related injuries. Each year, an estimated 500,000 pets across the United States are impacted by fires.

The FIDO Bags include reusable oxygen masks, wipes, leashes, collapsible water bowls, emergency slip leads, lubricating jelly for cleaning wounds, and cloth bags for carrying small animals.

Fire officials said the donation will enhance their ability to respond to emergencies involving pets, emphasizing their commitment to protecting all members of the community—both people and their pets.
